Snake Hunting!!

As the kids were getting in the pond they saw a copperhead head.  So my oldest and hubby went down with the shot gun.  They each shot one.  That was pretty exciting.  One of the snakes had a lump so they decided they needed to dissect...out came a frog! The other snake, well let's just say SOME of the family had snake for dinner...yuck!

We had a pretty crazy day as you can see.  The weather was exceptionally warm...81 degrees!  We did get some garden planted.  Thanks to our neighbor for coming down with the tractor yesterday and giving our garden it's start.  We are doing raised beds this year.  Something new to us.  Hopefully this will be a successful idea for years to come.  So right now it's a LOT of work, raking and shoveling the paths into 4 foot rows.  We have a pretty big "garden" space which equals a LOT of rows.  I hope to plant quite a variety of things in there this year.
Today we planted lettuce, spinach, kale, beets, radishes, and peas.  I haven't had very good luck at growing some of these, so I hope they turn out. 
So glad to get some things in before the big rain coming!
