Nourish~

I don't usually have a word for the new year, even though I try, nothing ever seems to come to me naturally.  This year has been different in so many good ways.  It started with just a couple weeks left in 2019  I felt a shift in my spirit and with my thoughts starting to shift to a more outward focus.  My husband, children, and people.  I've prayed for many years for the eyes of Jesus...to see people authentically and lovingly through His eyes.

I've been praying for my children and the lack of peace in our home, and although some of it is a natural cause of ten people living under the same roof, some of it, I believe has fallen to me and my lack of nourishing.

I came across another large family mama recently and she shared how our children are to us, like we are to our Father in heaven.  He would never leave us to fend for ourselves, but is always there providing and taking care of us, loving us, cherishing us, healing and wooing us through His love.  We as mamas have a very similar role to our children.  Never leaving them to "fend for themselves", providing for them(not just financially), taking care of them, loving, cherishing, healing, and wooing them with our love.

Which brings me to nourishing.  If we aren't nourishing mamas by nature, then we ought to make it a priority to pray and ask for our hearts to be softened and our eyes to be opened to see our families and others through Jesus's nourishing, loving eyes.
Not necessarily an easy road ~ habits will have to be changed, thought processes, and than decisions and follow through.

Some tangible ways to help change habits I'm working on to better nourish my family is...

Being a "yes" mom, whenever possible, even if it's something I don't necessarily want to do, but a child is asking, if its possible to say yes, then say yes!
Like...painting, reading a book, drawing, playing a game, going outside, coming to see one of their accomplishments.

Carving out time in the morning, afternoon, and evening to read books and play games

Being present and off my devices

Preparing good snacks and meals ~ and making sure either I am fixing them their plate or a big kid is handling that.  This is a big one for me because there are so many of us and I have not always been organized around meal time.

Sitting with my husband, being generous with hugs, and fixing him good food.  Listening without talking, not offering advice or what he should do's.  Encouraging him through kind words and praising him with thankfulness for all he does and his provisions.

Goodness friends I have such a LONG way to go, but realization is the first step to becoming something or changing something in your life!  I'm so very grateful this was brought to my heart and I have the rest of my life to work on and be in prayer for a loving nourishing heart!

Love
Lanie
