Getting it

It's amazing what homeschooling or as I like to say home learning makes you realize.  We are pretty relaxed when it comes to academics, figuring that if they do the basics...reading, writhing, and arithmetic they will pursue what they are really interested in learning for the other areas of life.  So far so good.  When coming to this way of learning I read something that has stuck with me.  If you can get your children to "relate" to what they are learning they will retain it.  It is the same for adults to I'm sure.  As I read this book Keeping a Family Cow I am getting it.  I know if you would have handed me this book before now, to read I would have not been able to retain one word, but since getting the cows and needing to figure this all out...I get it!  I relate to it.
