Bread || a skirt and our meat order
When we went to the cabin, I went thrifting ~ and found this super soft sheet. What do you do with a super soft sheet? You make a skirt of course! I'm what you would call...wild and free, I guess, as I never follow a pattern. I instead find a favorite piece of what ever I'm sewing (skirt, pants, pjs), lay it down on the fabric and cut away. Maybe it doesn't really save me time, as I always have to cut and make adjustments after I sew it up. I will say that what ever it is that I'm making fits just right. I guess because of this. I was never "formally" taught to sew. I kind of just figured it out slowly on my own and scary enough, in my own head. I wouldn't mind though to learn how to sew from a pattern...maybe one day!
We've been taking part in a pantry challenge on instagram for the month of January and I'm thinking continuing through February. You set up your own terms on the challenge tailored to your family. My goal was to only go to the store once in the month, only going back for dairy and fresh produce...and to not purchase any bread.
A few months back a Zojirushi bread machine popped up at our local salvation army for under 4 bucks. Looking brand new I bought it thinking, well...I could be out $4 but if it works, I'm up about $200! IT WORKED!!!
We've been making bread everyday now, since the end of December, either in the machine or making buns by hand. It takes my not even 5 minutes to get the ingredients in the machine and then three hours for it to do its thing. Overall at the end of the two months we will have saved an estimated $240 just on bread! Now that's pretty exciting!
I order grass fed meat about every three months from a local farmer, so that hit this last week. She is kind enough to actually deliver to my door. Now if we could just find some free range local eggs and raw milk! Actually I'm working on the raw milk. I think I've found a source, I just need to follow up on it. I'm not really interested in drinking it, mostly it will be for homemade yogurt.
Goodness enough about food!
We've been so sick for about a month, as it just keeps circulating though everybody. Ten people is a lot of circulation. We've had pneumonia, colds, flu, stomach bug, and CHICKEN POX! That's a lot of sickness y'all!
So much so that I decided to do a you tube video on it (insert cry laugh) literally.
We're finally all healthy now and scared to go back to church, as we feel like this is the place we always seem to get sick after going to. Maybe winter time is just a time to stay in your house and NEVER LEAVE (joking, not joking:)
Blessings,
Lanie
